What Jobs are Volunteers asked to do?

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, make a difference in the lives of others while making new friends. For those who love horses and enjoy working with people, volunteering at a therapeutic riding center is a wonderful opportunity to combine those passions. There are a variety of jobs volunteers are asked to do, including:

Side walking

The side walker plays an important role in helping the rider during their lesson. They walk alongside the rider, providing stability and support, while also helping to ensure that the rider is properly aligned and getting the most out of their lesson. The side walker may also assist with grooming and tacking the horse, as well as mounting and dismounting.

Horse Leader

The Horse Leader is responsible for leading the horse during the lesson. They must be confident handling horses and have a good understanding of horse behavior. The Horse Leader may also assist with grooming and tacking the horse, as well as un-tacking after the lesson is over.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

There are a variety of other volunteer opportunities available, including administrative duties, barn duties, grooming horses, and giving horses baths. Volunteers may also assist with fundraising events and other community outreach programs.

Volunteer Training Schedule

Volunteer training is an important part of the process for becoming a volunteer. We have specific training sessions for each volunteer position.

Volunteer Application

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, the first step is to complete a volunteer application. Once your application is reviewed, we will be in contact to schedule a volunteer orientation session. Please email us at nicole@unbridledpaths.org for an application.
